Hard Disk (HD) is a significant contributor to the fast operation of the PC. Technology based on mechanical HD is improving and today fastest (for home based PC) is SATA 6 Gb/s data transfer HD with 64 MB Cache at 10000 RPM. These are available for both laptops and desktops. For desktop is additional option available and that is to install SSD as a addition to the mechanical HD. Important condition to install 3 or 6 Gb/s SATA HD is that your MB (motherboard) has SATA connectors. If this is not a case, you can install PCI Express 1X controller to connect new 3 or 6 Gb/s HD as well as SSD if you choose so.
